Special Events II: Demolition Derby

Types of Cars Allowing:
Any American made stock, hardtop automobiles are allowed including wagons and hearses!!
Imperials, Trucks, Limousines, and Jeeps are NOT ALLOWED!!

RULES AND REGULATIONS

  1. Each driver must fill out a tech card.
  2. Each driver must be of legal age (18), or have a release signed by his/her parent/guardian and have a valid driver's license.
  3. The officials reserves the right to approve/reject all entries.
  4. All heats are available to men and women.
  5. The Robertson County Fair Board and the people running the derby, the officials, will not be responsible for any cars, parts, or personal property before, during, or after the derby.
  6. Any complaints will be heard at the arena within 10 minutes after each heat.
  7. Officials decisions are final.
  8. Complaints will be heard from drivers only.  No pit men or family complaints will be tolerated; those people will be quickly escorted away from the fairgrounds!
  9. No foul language will be tolerated.  Any driver using foul language will be disqualified and forfiet from any prize money.
  10. Protest fee that will be assessed is $100.

PREPERATION OF CAR:

  1. All glass including windshield, side windows, rear windows, head and tail lights must be removed.
  2. Chrome molding strips and the bottom portion of rear seats must be removed.
  3. Any sharp protruding fins or dangerous objects must be mashed down or cut off.
  4. Radiators must remain in original position or  be taken out.
  5. Roll over bars are permitted inside the car only, but not necessary and can be bolted to the roof.  The bar can be no more than 8 inches behind the seat.
  6. ONLY weld on the frame where the rules say you can.
  7. Absolutely no welding the body to the frame!!!!!
  8. Weld frame seams on top and bottom only.  One pass only on frame seams.
  9. Automobile must be swept clean, no junk tires, wheel or parts left in car.
  10. Weld all door seams with no wider than 2 inch flat bar inside and/or out.
  11. Absolutely no welding cage to frame!! (Cage to body only!)
  12. Changing pinion angle is allowed. Change upper or lower control arms.
  13. Only up to 7 gallons boat gas tanks are allowed and must be properly secured away from batteries.
  14. Each car must be registered and inspected at the track 1 hour prior to start time and each driver must be assigned a heat.
  15. Safety bar behind seat and front dash bar, one bar or plate driver side and passenger side. Front doors can be welding into door jams. (This is for your safety)
  16. Weld bumper shock brackets to frame and bumpers.
  17. Steering columns can use 2 knuckle joints in upper and lower. TWO KNUCKLES ONLY!
  18. Remove all body bushings from the car no longer than ??? thread.
  19. Weld trunk lid same as doors. Mandatory out hole in trunk must be a 10x10 inches square.
  20. Cutting to frame or body is allowed.  Hood must still cover fan for safety.  Pre-denting is allowed.  Cripple cars are allowed. Hole in firewall no longer than 14 inch square.
  21. Electric fans and transmission coolers are allowed.
  22. Bumper changes are permitted. Only on car bumpers and brackets!
  23. Hood can be bolted in 6 places up to 1 inch ONLY!
  24. You can change the cars' rear axle assembly, but car rearends only!!!  No trunk rearends at all!!!

RUNNING:

  1. A safety belt, helmet, and googles/safety glasses are required.  Optional neck brace.
  2. Drivers may maneuver forward and backwards but there will be no deliberate hitting in the driver's door. Anyone doing so will be disqualified and lose their position and money.
  3. NO drinking and drugs will be tolerated.  Drivers or pit men doing so will result in disqualification of that driver.
  4. Any type of fire will be put out one time, and the next time you are disqualified.
  5. No sandbagging will be tolerated, this is an automatic disqualification, one warning only!
  6. All hits must be aggresive. Hit everyone the same.
  7. If driver's door comes open you are disqaulified.
  8. There will be no pinning and holding while someone else is hitting.
  9. No wild driving in the pits.  Each driver is responsible his/her crew.

Prizes:

Top 3 from each heat will get $100, trophy, and got to feature.
Feature: 1st - $2,500, 2nd - $1,000, 3rd - $600, 4th - $300
Top 3 feature places will also recieve trophies.
Top 2 and most aggressive from consolation heat: no prize but will go to feature.
